The Beauty Of Flic-en-Flac Beach

If you’re a beach lover, this post is for you.

Steve and I spent July 2026 on the East African island of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean. One of the places we enjoyed most was Flic-en-Flac Beach. Here are some of my favorite photos of the beach.

Flic-en-Flac Beach is about 6 miles (10 km) long and lined with trees. It is also full of coral, but it is illegal to remove it from the beach.

If you’re staying at a beachfront resort, you will have access to seaside loungers and umbrellas. If not, you are at the mercy of one group of men who rent loungers and umbrellas near the northern end of the beach, across from the cemetery. There isn’t a posted schedule, so you just have to show up and hope for the best.

Either way, you won’t go hungry. There are many food trucks at the northern end and several restaurants at the resorts near the southern end.

I recommend water shoes if you plan to swim as there are a lot of rocks and stones.
