Kuala Lumpur is full of delightful sights, but the street art quickly became one of my favorites. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.

The street art is divided into three sections, starting with murals and sculptures. Two of the best areas to see street art are Jalan Rembia and the surrounding streets in the Bukit Bintang neighborhood and Chinatown.

In Chinatown, make sure you don’t miss Kwai Chai Hong, a small alley brimming with charming artwork. You’ll find it by crossing a little bridge guarded by a ceramic lady in a pink dress. The name translates to “Little Demon Alley,” but don’t worry, the only thing haunting this spot is its irresistible charm.

The second section is for Lat sculptures. The sculptures are based on the cartoons of Malaysian cartoonist Datuk Mohd Nor Khalid who goes by the name of Lat. Twenty-two sculptures were installed in 2016. I don’t know how many are still standing. We saw several besides the ones I photographed, but some of them weren’t in very good shape.

The third section is painted utility boxes. This is the first time I have seen them, but I’ve since learned this has been done in many cities worldwide. We saw them in every part of the city we visited, so there are plenty of cool surprises waiting for you.
