One of the coolest things about traveling is all the stories you come home with. Here you will hear about some of our adventures like being pickpocketed during our first week in Barcelona, or how we manage to communicate when we don’t speak the local language and the other person doesn’t speak English. Hint – it sometimes involves comical charades.

Peru Protest: Stranded in La Joya We weren’t looking forward to a sixteen and a half hour overnight bus trip through southern Peru on our way to Machu Picchu. Little did we know that an additional fourteen hours would be added to our journey when the road we were on was blocked by protesters. This is where we found out what’s really important.

Is The Ugly American Dead? If you reside in the U.S. you may have heard that people outside of the U.S. hate Americans and label us “Ugly Americans” because of our behavior. I am happy to report that we have not found this to be true. The people we have met since beginning our travels have been more welcoming than we had expected.

Is a Land-Based Galapagos Trip Right For You? We spent four weeks as land-based visitors in the Galápagos Islands. The experience taught us that there is a whole other side to the islands that you don’t often see.

Oops! Did We Do That? Mistakes are a part of life, and travel life is no exception. We made a few costly mistakes during our first year of travel and managed to avoid a few more.  Have a laugh at our expense and pick up a few pointers here.
